Prior to the office meeting, Pat invites the friends and neighbors to see a “demonstration” of Jan Stewart as a commercial product in a two-piece leopard bikini. The presentation successfully convinces everyone to “invest” $500 each. Again, it helps to see this in its anthropological context, in particular how the mid-1950s portrayed white women in the media.

Yet another pre-show commercial, this time for Drene Shampoo with hair spring formula. If taken in tandem with the ad preceding "Love Rings Bells," one can assume the target audience is married, housebound middle-aged women. Coupled with the central plot of this episode, it reinforces the notion of women needing to, at least partially, sell themselves as a surrogate product in order to make progress in their lives.
